Atlantis - above the waves

traditions, theories, evidence and facts.

Quote of the Day for 07/24/08 from Atlantis Enigma.

In the course of a few short days, the peaceful world was transformed into a screaming chaos of tempest, darkness, heat, earthquake and flood. page 174

The call of Atlantis stirs our imagination and our curiosity. A peaceful island in the forgotten past with a high civilization - perhaps in the middle of the ocean! Did it exist or not? Where could it have been? Was Atlantis in the Atlantic Ocean as the name suggests or elsewhere? What more can we say of it? Do we have any evidence?

The title of this site is inspired by a scientific article - almost forgotten - that describes how an underwater mountain in the mid-Atlantic (called the "Atlantis Seamount" by Oceanologists) was once "above the waves" and how sand was created on its shores.

The logo of this site comes from the highest mountain in the Canary Islands and reflects the still existing topography of the underwater Mid-atlantic ridge.

This site attempts to assemble all important information on Atlantis. It is extensive. Studying it is a facinating journey.

We believe the evidence is overwhelming in favor of the existence of Atlantis. However if Atlantis existed, then it is necessary to substantially revamp our sciences of geology and archeology and rewrite our history of humanity.

In our opinion, Atlantis was in the Atlantic Ocean. However, the other theories of its location have significant elements of truth and add to our total knowledge. They call for an integrated - and revised - view of our prehistory.

We invite you to enjoy this path of exploration. Links are provided to other related sites. We have a monthly newsletter and an online store of carefully chosen books on this and related subjects.

Welcome to the quest!
